Topic: Big week in news land
Well now, Bush and Co. have their work cut out for them this week. The big story right now is wether or not Karl Rove (Bush's Brain) did in fact break a law and took some role in the revelation of Valrie Plame's CIA job back in 2003. I have read Ambassador Joseph Wilson's autobiography and it is painfully clear that SOMEONE let that cat out the bag in the name of political revenge so somebodies head will roll at some point in the near future. Will it be Karl ROve? Scooter Libby? Or someone else yet to be named?
The liberals are frothing at the bit hoping it is Rove as am I. If there is a good place to begin dismantling the administrations strangle hold of power it is Karl Rove. Not just to publically crush the jag-bag or to even punish the Bushies but more to remove Rove's ass from the game entirely. This way he might be less likely to move onto the next Republican Presidential campaign so his politics of evil can be shut the fuck up in the here and now. The White House is satying mum at this stage in the game to wait and see what the investigation brings forth in the coming weeks. Maybe not the best strategy in the world but then again when has their strategy ever been "the best."
McClellan was grilled for almost the entire press conference the other day regarding Rove and statements he had made back in 2003 regarding the notion of Rove being involved in the Valerie Plame thing 'ridiculous.' Now McClellan refuses to retract that remark nor offer any insight what-so-ever as to what they are thinking on the inside.
The other big story (aside from London, of course) is the notion that Sandra Day O'Connor had retired from the Surpreme Court along with the notion that Reinquist will also be retiring soon. SO, that is two opportunities Bush has of screwing America but good for the next god knows how many years. Bush met with the lead senators and Congressman today to begin consultation on who is going to get the gig. This is a unbeleivably important issue and will undoubtably be one of Bush's historical hallmarks. As if he hasn't had enough of those already.
It seems to me that putting in someone fair minded and not skewing to far to the right or the left would be an ideal candidate. I am positive, however, that Bush will pick someone everyone on the left hates from the get-go and it will be a mess all the way through the entire selection/confirmation process. That seems to be the status quo these days what with a left wing that is increasingly finding their voice. So, stay tuned for that one.
London has gone about the business of carrying on with a strong face and I admire them for that. It seems their investigation is moving along rapidly and hopefully they can learn something we didn't know that may help stop the next train explosion or (hope hope) the next terror attack. If I had to guess I would say the U.S.A. is due for our next uber-tragedy.
Not that I am wanting this or rooting for it as the London attack basically demonstrates the flawed thinking of the fly-paper theory of "Fighting them over there as opposed to the streets of London or New York." Granted, we already knew that we will likely 'fight' them here despite Iraq as they don't come here (or London) to fight. They come to blow us, themselves and anything else the fuck up. How does one actually fight that in the streets?
Right. You can't. Hence my disgust with this horrible misunderstanding of our enemy in this war. The tide continues to turn against Bush and something has to give. Will it be Rove? Could this possibly move up the ladder to the next level?
