Topic: Ka-ching?
This kind of goes hand-in-hand with all this poop about Jeff Gannon (male prostitute) and the other Right-wing pundits/journalistic types getting hand-outs from the administration to promote their fucking bullshit. How much are they spending?
This comes from USA Today (January 27):
"The Bush administration has more than doubled its spending on outside contracts with public relations firms during the past four years, according to an analysis of federal procurement data by congressional Democrats."
Doubled?
(emphasis added)
"The administration spent at least $88 million in fiscal 2004 on contracts with major public relations firms, the analysis found, compared with $37 million in 2001, Bush's first year in office. In all, the administration
spent $250 million on public relations contracts during its first term, compared with $128 million spent for President Clinton between 1997 and 2000."
Hmm, well Bush won the election so does this expense count as a successful program and thus need not be cut in Dubya's lean and mean budget? $250 million!?! How much did we give the Tsunami victims? AIDS causes? The fucking Agriculture budget?!?
"While not all public relations spending is illegal or inappropriate, this rapid rise in public relations contracts at a time of growing budget deficits raises questions about the priorities of the administration," said the report by the Democratic staff of the House Government Reform Committee"
Fuckin' Duh, man.
With that in mind...This popped up in The Washington Post today:
'President Bush is asking Congress for $82 billion to cover the costs of ongoing military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan and a myriad of other internationally related expenses, such as training Iraqi security forces, aiding tsunami victims and helping military forces in other nations.'
Ah, so we are going to be dipping into the military expense for the Tsunami relief now, eh? Remember, this $82 Billion is outside the already ricockulous buidget proposed last week!
So, why is the deficit so big again?
