Topic: Iraq figures a Parliment
Well, the results in Iraq have been certified and they are figuring out their parliment. As I posted previously the Shia took the majority followed by the Kurds then the former ruling Sunnis. So, things are on the change in Iraq. The BBC has it this way:
"The Shia United Iraqi Alliance party has won a majority of seats in Iraq's new transitional parliament.
The party, which won the 30 January election with 48% of the vote, was allocated 140 seats.
The Kurdish parties, which came second in the poll, have 75 seats and interim PM Iyad Allawi's party gets 40 seats.
The new 275-seat National Assembly will now have to choose a president and two vice-presidents, who will then decide on a prime minister and cabinet."
Not too shabby, assuming the people actualy recognize this government and then they can get their act together enough to quell this insurgency and in turn causing the Americans to get the fuck out of Iraq. This shit could all work out! That is not to say that Bush still hsouldn't be held accountable for about a million mistakes leading up to this and despite my optimism that this might work out ok in the end it does not justify the lies and the pre-emptive war, the Abu Graib and the thousands of innocent people we killed in the process. Not to mention the mess brewing all around iraq suggests that we are going to start rusing the clean-up in Iraq so we can leave and move our troops into Iran and Syria instead. This way we can magically pacify deep rooted hatred for the U.S. and Israel and make everybody happy and peaceful and buying American pop culture and porn while we steal all our oil under their sand.
